Short+Sweet Theatre is the largest ten-minute theatre festival in the world and each year it showcases bite-sized dramatic treats - each less than 10 minutes.
The event has helped launch the careers of countless actors, writers and directors and this year passes an astounding milestone - 1,000 Australian plays on the stage!
From small beginnings at Sydney’s Newtown Theatre in 2002 the event has grown to now encompass a range of artforms including Theatre, Dance, Musical Theatre and Cabaret and has spread to other centres in Australia (Melbourne, Central Coast, Canberra and Brisbane) and beyond - Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand.
Each year Short+Sweet Sydney presents over 300 of the best ten minute plays on the planet from local and international writers.
In 2009 we received around 1200 script entries from writers across the globe.
Our vision is simple - a more creative world ten minutes at a time.
