SHORT+SWEET DANCE MELBOURNE 2011
How to submit your work..
Your submission should consist of TWO attached documents:
1) SS+D Application form Click here
2) One page CV
All interested choreographers can download the Short+Sweet Dance application form, see menu on left.
Applicants must include:
1) Choreographer’s name and contact details (mobile/ home ph/ email)
2) The names of your artists and contact details
3) Title of work
4) Approximate length of work (if less than ten minutes)
5) Music title and composer
6) Set and costume design/ specific lighting requirements
7) An outline of your concept, including movement style
AND
8) Applicants must submit a ONE page CV, outlining their prior experience and training.

FAQ’s-Frequently asked questions:
What happens once I have submitted my proposal?
Festival organisers will select a short list of applicants for the showing days in march
Short listed applicants will be invited to show their work to The Festival Director & Festival Executive Producer.
If your artists are not available to perform on the showing day, a dvd of your work will also be accepted.
What if I get short-listed?
You need to notify all of your dancers that you have been selected to perform at the Short Sweet + Dance showing day in MARCH.
If your work is not fully developed, you need to rehearse with your dancers prior to the showing.
The panel will be very accepting of works in progress, however, a completed or mostly developed work will always ensure a better chance of securing a place in the season.
Is there a limit to the number of cast members in each work?
The number of dancers that you cast, ultimately depends on how you intend to move them about the space.
There is no maximum limit.
We receive a large volume of solo work submissions. Please consider when applying, that the festival can only program a maximum of two solo works per week.
What if I have complicated staging requirements?
REMEMBER whatever props/ matter you use in your piece has to come on and off the stage in a MAXIMUM of 30 seconds with a small crew.
Can I submit more than one proposal?
Yes. Choreographers with more than one work in repertoire are welcome to submit several proposals. Short Sweet+Dance makes no guarantee that all pieces will be programmed.
Is there a limit to how many pieces a dancer can be in?
The rule for Short+Sweet, is that a performer can only perform in two pieces.
What if there is a week during the festival that I will be unavailable?
You need to notify the festival organisers at the time of applying.
Should any of the season conflict with an existing commitment-then choreographers must clearly state which weeks they and their cast ARE available.
