ABOUT THE PROGRAM…
Short+Sweet Dance premiered in Australia in 2007 for one week at the Newtown Theatre, Sydney, It keeps growing. The recent 2009 Sydney season ran an amazing three week season in spite of moving to a larger venue as well as Melbourne strutting it’s stuff during June with it’s successeful one week season!
2010 sees Short Sweet + Dance taking the stage in Sydney, Melbourne & Canberra
Short+Sweet Dance is a participatory festival providing a platform for choreographers, dancers and directors. It’s about developing networks, building industry relationships and furthering the career of independent artists and companies.
Participants had the opportunity to receive awards such as Most Outstanding Choreography, Best New Talent, and Most Promising Male/Female Dancer decided by a panel of respected dance community members. Similarly, there is a People’s Choice Award, which is presented to the choreographer of the work that receives the most audience votes over the whole season. There are prizes attached to each Award – but more about that later.
