See You in Hell is one man’s very personal, and partly autobiographical, response to the specifics of the AIDS epidemic in the 1990’s.

ALEX BROUN (Vic)
Hold ‘Em directed by Victor Kline
Cast : Emma Harris & Renee Lim

Amari’s Dad died before he could fulfill his dream of playing Texas Hold ‘Em poker in Las Vegas. Will Amari fulfil that dream for him? Should she try? And what will that ambition do to her friendship with Kelly-Anne?

The audition and the preparation for it are not usually the most treasured parts of the performer’s dream. Add a dash of mistaken identity to the mix and it bubbles into a lively comedy with a surprising afterglow.

Background
Although Short+Sweet’s traditional base is 10-minute plays we’ve decided to experiment with a festival of longer plays: minimum of 20 to maximum of 30 minutes. The programme will be called the Short+Sweet One-Act Festival.

This festival will be staged in Sydney (at Newtown Theatre) from July 21 to August 16, 2008. It will run for four weeks, with 4 one-act plays being performed per week. A total of 16 one-act plays will be staged.

As usual, big prizes will be on offer for Best Play, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor etc. There will be no “wildcards” section – ie/ no one-off performances of the “best of the rest”.
