Visions / Aims
- To provide a platform for actors, writers and directors to create high quality new work in a professional theatre environment and in so doing showcase their talents to the industry and help foster future employment opportunities
- To allow up and coming theatre professionals to learn more about the craft of writing, directing and acting through the actual creation of new short theatre works and in so doing encourage and inspire talented young theatre practitioners to achieve higher levels of artistic quality in their work both for Short+Sweet and afterwards
- To provide a supportive environment where established artists may pass on knowledge to newcomers to the theatre arts through the rehearsal and performance of plays and through our Masterclass program
- To present high quality theatre in the form of new short theatre pieces at affordable prices and in so doing develop new audiences for Australian theatre
- To encourage active participation in theatre through the actor’s audition process, play writing competition and Independent Theatre Company submission program for actors, writers and directors at all levels of skill and experience and thus foster growth in theatre
- To encourage people to write for the theatre and thus help foster new playwrights in Australia and the world
