For Independent Theatre Companies (ITC)
INDEPENDENT THEATRE COMPANIES – Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney 2010
ITCs Entries for Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney 2010 are NOW OPEN.
DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES : OCTOBER 1st, 2009
WHAT IS AN INDEPENDENT THEATRE COMPANY (ITC)?
Independent Theatre Companies (ITCs) are a group of theatre makers that may include performers, actors, writers and directors who make a group submission to Short+Sweet Theatre to present a production at the festival.
They may or may not have produced previous theatre work under their company name.
Their work may be in any theatrical style – play, physical theatre, group devised work etc. The only restriction is the theatre work must be TEN MINUTES or less.
The advantage of entering as an ITC is that your ensemble can propose a complete package: the script or concept (if the work is non-text based or to be group devised), the director and the performers.
To qualify as an ITC submission, the submission must include:
+ Script or production concept
+ Director and/or facilitator
+ At least one performer
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
* ITCs must provide either a concept or script for their production
* The theatre work MUST be 10-minutes or less in running time.
* Participation in Short+Sweet Theatre is on a voluntary basis. Short+Sweet Theatre is not a CO-OP so ITCs do not receive re-numeration for their performances of any kind, although ITCs do have the chance to win prizes and professional development opportunities
* Other than the 10-minute time restriction there’s no theme for the competition - all we’re looking for are the best scripts/production concepts.
